Manan Sood Jon Inglett, Stacey Paugh English Composition 1- 1113 February 15, 2014 My Life Changing Experience When I was 13 years old, my parents started to think about moving to United States because my dad was already working here for a company. We started all the immigration related process which took a while to end. When I was 14, one day I came back from school and my parents told me we were moving to US in 2-3 months. When I heard it first, I was happy, but later I started thinking about how I will be leaving everything behind. My family, friends and neighbors whom I have been with since I was little, I will be leaving all of them in a few months. As the date approached closer, we started to pack more and more things. I saw different people, heard some languages that I have heard. Different people, environment and food made me think that I don’t belong here. When I was at the airport, I was watching TV. W hile I was listening to the person speaking on TV, I was thinking that I am not even able to follow what he was saying because my English was weak and he was talking really fast for me. When I sneezed, a person sitting next to me said some thing to me and then I started wondering what that person said, so I asked my dad and he told me that the person said â€Å"Bless you† because I sneezed. Then we were supposed to go to St. Louis because we were in the New York Airport. So we started to board the plane and it took off, and then instead of landing in St. Louis we landed in Canada. After we got off the plane we went to the questioning desk and the employee said that we were in Canada. Then my dad asked him about how we landed in Canada and she said she doesn’t know and she told us that she was going to contact the people in New York that why did we land in Canada. After contacting the New York airport, she told us that they were going to get us to St. Louis for free. We finally came to St. Louis and I relaxed for some time after the journey of about 25 hours. If you were able to produce milk for your child and had no complications with feeding, would you be more willing to feed your baby that way? Or would you still pick formula? It’s an important decision the mom has to make not only for herself but for her child as well. Moms still today don’t know the benefits of breastfeeding and are quick to pick up a can of formula because of rumors or just lack of education on the subject. The benefits of breast feeding extend well beyond basic nutrition. There is no greater feeling in the world, then knowing that your body is able to produce food for your child. Breast milk contains all vitamins and nutrients your baby will need for the first six months of life. Your baby will be able to digest breast milk better then formula therefore won’t have issues when it comes to stools. Some negatives that people may have heard are that it hurts. Yes it hurts but only for about a week if that. They make creams to help with pain. Some also may not because they are very shy about feeding in public because they don’t want the reaction from others. They have made blan kets and cover ups so you can discretely feed your baby without the judgment of others. Also a big problem for some mothers might be that they cannot produce. We’ve just read â€Å"Animal Farm† in class. â€Å"Animal farm†, or â€Å"Animal Farm: A Fairy Story† as the original title was, was a little manuscript which was published right after the Second World War by George Orwell, ever heard of him? It was a book that was originally placed in the shelves of children’s books, and was read as a fairytale (as the previous title presumed you would do). But behind the naive and sort of innocent surface, there was a hidden message†¦ between the lines there laid a story about political reforms and great historical events. With this in mind, it is therefore easy to see that for instance the group of sheep at the farm are the masses, the followers, the kinds that â€Å"don’t give a damn† about what’s going on. That’s how the masses in the real life revolution were described as well. You may then see what I realized after reading this easy-read novel: You must always ask questions. Don’t take things for granted, don’t do things just because you’re told so, and most important: Don’t be a sheep! Just instead of telling the heavy story like in a history book, he puts his own individual twist on it. And it sells! George Orwell tells a story about the past (and present) to inform the public. He expresses his opinions by letting the readers have a look at the puppet show of the revolutions, a satiric story which warn us against communism and dictatorship. I loved â€Å"Animal Farm† because I find it funny, but at the same time educational and interesting. It made me think, and wary of the government! I think this is a book with meaning and moral lessons for everyone; it’s suitable for all age, especially pupils and students, so it’s perfect for you! I would say this is a unique fable, with a classic theme, and with a brilliant ending (which I won’t reveal to you). It’s sort of â€Å"mind-blowing†!
